‘Autumn of Yongdusan’, Monthly Performance at Busan Modern History Museum Annex in October
October 28th at 4 PM: 'Wondosim Yeonga' and '3-in-1 Swing Tet' Jazz Performances
The Busan Modern History Museum will present the October program of the monthly performance series 'Wondosim Yeonga' at the annex on October 28th at 4 PM.
'Wondosim Yeonga' is the 2023 monthly performance theme of the Busan Modern History Museum, featuring performers from various genres such as classical, jazz, and indie music, each conveying the emotions and stories of Wondosim through their unique styles and music.
This October's program is prepared as a jazz performance to fully enjoy the autumn of Wondosim. Under the title 'Autumn of Yongdusan,' the trio band '3-in-Use Swingtet' will take the stage.
Formed in Busan in 2013, 3-in-Use Swingtet is a team specializing in 'swing jazz' music. Swing, derived from the word 'to swing,' refers to the dynamic rhythm that is regularly repeated in jazz performances. Early jazz, which originated in the southern United States, including New Orleans in the 1900s, blossomed again in New York in the 1930s. Especially after the Great Depression, the recovery atmosphere emphasized bright and exciting rhythms, leading to a boom in 'swing jazz.'
3-in-Use Swingtet aims to approach the public in a familiar way by emphasizing bright and lively swing rhythms in traditional jazz music, which can sometimes feel a bit difficult. As part of this effort, they have contributed to popularizing swing jazz by performing at major Busan festivals such as the Busan Biennale and the Joseon Tongsinsa Festival, as well as various street performances.
They perform globally known jazz pieces as well as Italian canzone in swing rhythm. In this performance, they will present songs by Benny Goodman, known as the 'King of Swing,' a representative musician of swing jazz, and 'Tu vuo fa L’americano' by Italian singer-songwriter Renato Carosone, familiar to us as 'We No Speak Americano,' which has been used in domestic advertising music.
Any interested citizens can participate free of charge. Applications for the program are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for 40 people through the Busan Modern History Museum website.
