A Man in His 40s Arrested for Assaulting Election Campaign Workers of the People Power Party's Gangseo-gu Mayor Candidate
A man in his 40s was arrested by the police on charges of assaulting a campaign worker for Kim Tae-woo, the People Power Party candidate running in the Gangseo District Office by-election.
On the 8th, the Gangseo Police Station in Seoul booked and is investigating Mr. A for violating the Public Official Election Act after he verbally abused and threw punches at campaign workers for candidate Kim on the streets of Banghwa-dong that day.
The police responded to a report stating "a man was causing a disturbance and interfering with the election campaign" and arrested Mr. A on the spot as a suspect caught in the act.
The police plan to investigate the specific circumstances of the incident, including whether there was direct assault and whether Mr. A committed the act for political reasons.
