KOSPI Ends Slightly Higher Supported by Institutional Net Buying... Holds 2400 Level
The KOSPI closed higher, driven by net buying from institutional investors.
On the 6th, the KOSPI closed at 2408.73, up 5.13 points (0.21%) from the previous trading day.
On that day, the index opened at 2408.81, up 0.22% from the previous trading day. During the session, it rose as high as 2421.18, gaining nearly 1%. However, it gave back the gains amid intensified net selling by foreigners and ended the trading session lower.
By investor type, individuals and institutions net bought 141.6 billion KRW and 177.1 billion KRW respectively. In contrast, foreigners net sold 326.2 billion KRW.
By sector, pharmaceuticals and paper & wood rose more than 2%. Additionally, non-metallic minerals, finance, services, and precision medical equipment increased by more than 1%. Meanwhile, electricity & electronics, chemicals, distribution, and manufacturing sectors saw slight declines.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics closed at 66,000 KRW, down 700 KRW (1.05%) from the previous trading day. Samsung SDI also fell 1.64%. On the other hand, KB Financial Group and Celltrion rose 4.10% and 3.95% respectively. Kia and Samsung Biologics also jumped 2.04% and 1.11% respectively.
On that day, 655 KOSPI-listed stocks rose without any hitting the upper price limit, while 221 stocks declined without any hitting the lower price limit. Fifty-seven stocks remained unchanged.
The KOSDAQ closed at 816.39, up 15.37 points (1.92%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, foreigners and institutions net bought 183.7 billion KRW and 58.2 billion KRW respectively. Conversely, individuals net sold 235.7 billion KRW.
All sectors rose. Paper & wood surged 7.64%, recording the largest gain. Additionally, digital content rose 3.13%, and other services, distribution, pharmaceuticals, and publishing & reproduction all increased by more than 2%.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, EcoPro BM closed at 235,500 KRW, up 0.86% (2,000 KRW) from the previous trading day. Alteogen jumped 5.73%, and Rino Industrial, Celltrion Healthcare, and POSCO DX all rose more than 3%. Conversely, L&F, JYP Entertainment, and Rainbow Robotics fell more than 1%.

On that day, 1,303 KOSDAQ-listed stocks, including Wooriro and Xgate among four others, rose. Meanwhile, 251 stocks declined, including Ace Tech which hit the lower price limit, and 52 stocks remained unchanged.
