Boseong-gun Holds Comprehensive Evaluation Meeting on Food Crops
Introduction to Carbon Reduction and Sustainable Agricultural Environments
Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it held a comprehensive evaluation meeting for food crops on the 5th, attended by about 80 people including farmers and related officials.
This year, Boseong-gun promoted a food crop pilot project by investing 710 million KRW in 21 locations covering 240 hectares, receiving great response from farmers in terms of agricultural new technology dissemination and labor cost reduction effects.
The comprehensive evaluation meeting for food crops focused on analyzing and evaluating labor-saving and carbon neutrality aspects that can reduce labor input, such as ▲ establishment of automatic seedling box transfer complexes for rice seedlings ▲ pilot dissemination of low-carbon rice paddy water management technology among the pilot projects carried out this year.
Participants closely compared and observed the cultivation process and growth status of the fields subject to this evaluation with the projects they performed, freely exchanging opinions on what went well and areas for improvement.
In addition, they visited the test fields of Jeollanam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services to tour varieties under cultivation such as Bunjilmi and Kang Dae-chan, and received guidance on cultivation methods and variety characteristics from related researchers.
A representative of the Boseong-gun Agricultural Technology Center said, “This year’s rice crop condition in Boseong-gun faced difficulties in tillering and grain filling due to frequent rain and lack of sunlight caused by adverse weather, but thanks to the farmers’ determination to overcome drought and Boseong-gun’s active support, it is expected to show normal levels. We thank the farmers who worked hard on the pilot projects and will do our best to share excellent cases and increase farm income through this comprehensive evaluation meeting.”
