Shinhan Financial Group announced on the 5th that it held the launch ceremony for the venture investment fund 'Shinhan-GB Future Flow Fund,' the first joint fund established by Korea and Japan, at the Industrial Promotion Center in Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan, on the morning of the 4th.
The launch ceremony was attended by Kim Ju-hyun, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission; Kim Kwang-soo, Chairman of the Korea Federation of Banks; Kim Myung-hee, Vice President of Shinhan Financial Group; Tomiya Seiichiro, President of SBJ; Lee Dong-hyun, President of Shinhan Venture Investment; Nobeta Satoru, Executive Director of Kiraboshi Bank; as well as representatives from the Financial Services Agency of Japan, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Minato-ku, Kiraboshi Financial Group, KT, and D.CAMP, among other LP partners.
The fund, totaling approximately 5 billion yen (about 45.5 billion KRW), will be jointly managed (GP) by Shinhan Venture Investment, a subsidiary of Shinhan Financial Group, and Global Brain, a Japanese venture capital (VC) firm.
Both parties plan to discover startups from both countries with innovative technologies and global expansion capabilities in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), deep tech, and software as a service (SaaS) through Shinhan Financial's startup acceleration program 'Shinhan Futures Lab Japan' and Global Brain's incubating program 'Xlimit,' and to systematically nurture and invest in them.
Chairman Kim said, "This fund is the first Korea-Japan joint venture investment fund and a project voluntarily initiated by the private financial sector, making it a good example of financial cooperation between the two countries," adding, "We hope that this fund's establishment will lead to the expansion of cooperative projects in the private financial sectors of both countries into more fields."
