Recently, Abu Dhabi, UAE, launched the Green Bus Assessment (GBA) program to achieve carbon neutrality. Accordingly, to enhance expertise in various evaluations for the introduction of electric and hydrogen buses, Abu Dhabi requested exchanges regarding hydrogen bus deployment and operation, as well as hydrogen refueling infrastructure construction and operation from Changwon Special City.

In accordance with the "Hydrogen Mobility Exchange Mutual Cooperation Agreement" signed locally in Abu Dhabi on January 16, Changwon Special City agreed to cooperate in providing education on accumulated experience and technology related to hydrogen buses and refueling stations to support the capacity building of Abu Dhabi ITC in hydrogen bus-related areas.

From the 4th to the 27th, over four weeks, the city plans to educate and guide ITC practical staff on the status of hydrogen bus operations within the city, hydrogen bus operation management by transportation companies, and the construction, operation, and maintenance of hydrogen refueling stations. Additionally, support will be provided for ITC staff visits to hydrogen-related institutions and companies such as Hyundai Motor Company's Jeonju plant, Korea Gas Technology Corporation, and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Central Research Institute.

The ITC will send a total of seven members, including the GBA program general director, GBA staff, and hydrogen project managers, to participate in H2TEP operated by Changwon Special City according to the schedule. Notably, the GBA program general director will visit Mayor Hong Nam-pyo to deliver a letter of appreciation for H2TEP cooperation from the Minister of the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport.

Mayor Hong said, “Since the MOU signing last January, I am pleased that through H2TEP, our city’s first practical exchange with Abu Dhabi, we have officially announced that our city is a partner of Abu Dhabi in the hydrogen sector,” adding, “We will do our best to ensure that the operation of H2TEP becomes a significant stepping stone for our hydrogen companies to enter Abu Dhabi.”
