Ulsan Office of Education, Promoting Eco-Friendly Resource Circulation School Culture
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is taking the lead in creating an eco-friendly resource circulation school culture, focusing on plastic resource circulation leading schools in collaboration with environmental organizations in the Ulsan area.
The plastic resource circulation leading schools include Dajeon Elementary School, Okdong Elementary School, Sinjeong Elementary School, Gulhwa Elementary School, Hoyeon Elementary School, Okdong Middle School, Hyundai Middle School, Seongsin High School, Sinseon Girls' High School, and Hyundai High School, totaling 10 schools.
In July, the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education signed a business agreement for the creation of an eco-friendly resource circulation culture with Korea East-West Power, Lotte Chemical, and the Plastic Upcycling Research Institute, and from August 21 to 31, it held a public contest for plastic resource circulation leading schools.
From September until February 2025, these schools will experience and educate on the virtuous cycle of resources centered on plastic, playing a role in spreading the resource circulation school culture.
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education plans to support the installation of one waste PET bottle collection machine (LVR-15090P) per school free of charge in November, allowing students to experience the process of PET bottle recycling.
They will also install waste plastic collection bins within schools and create eco-friendly resource circulation practice spaces for collecting and upcycling waste plastics, supporting students to experience the plastic circular economy.
On the 4th, the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education held an orientation session at the policy conference room for 10 staff members in charge of the plastic resource circulation leading schools, together with cooperating organizations including Korea East-West Power, Lotte Chemical, Lotte Aluminum, and the Plastic Upcycling Research Institute.
At this orientation, the resource circulation cooperating organizations introduced the projects supporting the plastic resource circulation leading schools. They provided guidance on the installation and management of waste PET bottle collection machines (Petbot), resource circulation education and experiences, and support for solar power design installations.
