Gangnam-gu to Host 'Gangnam Digital DNA Festival' on 6th... Experience Future Technologies like AI and Coding
Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) announced on the 3rd that it will hold the ‘Gangnam Digital DNA (Dream New Area) Festival,’ where youth can experience future technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and coding, at Ilwon-dong Eco Park (4-12 Ilwon-dong) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 6th.
This year, the district developed a Gangnam-style future technology education program for students in the area for the first time and directly visited 29 elementary and middle schools in the first half of the year to provide education to 5,721 students. This festival was planned as an extension of nurturing future talents, providing a place for students in grades 4 to 6 of elementary school and grades 1 to 3 of middle school to freely demonstrate the future technologies they have learned and mastered.
The event will be operated with expert lectures, coding competitions, future technology experience centers, and career experience booths so that the youth, the main participants of the festival, can enjoy lectures and hands-on activities and even design career paths in the 4th industrial revolution.
Popular YouTubers who present science stories in an engaging way were invited for the expert lectures. In the first lecture at 11 a.m., ‘Dr. Orbit,’ a researcher at the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute and operator of the YouTube channel ‘Andoel Science,’ will give a lecture on humanity’s dream of reaching space. In the second lecture at 3 p.m., ‘Dotty,’ co-founder of Sandbox Network and operator of the YouTube channel ‘DottyTV,’ will explain the digital media ecosystem and deliver an encouraging message to the youth.
The coding competition is a program reflecting the results of the new project ‘Digital Education Visiting Schools’ promoted by Gangnam-gu this year. The competition will exhibit works from 15 teams that passed the preliminary rounds and expert mentoring held in August and September, and select and award the final 8 teams.
At the future technology experience center, participants can enjoy drone flight soccer, VR ski attractions, and AR glasses experiences. The career experience booths are designed to explore and experience careers in new business fields such as professional gamers, creators, and new sports.
