Shin Yubin (Korean Air) and Jeon Jihee (Mirae Asset Securities) pair (ranked 1st) secured the silver medal in the women's doubles table tennis event at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
The Shin Yubin-Jeon Jihee duo won 4-1 (9-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-7, 11-7) against Japan's Harimoto Miwa-Kihara Miyu pair (ranked 33rd) in the women's doubles semifinals held on the 2nd at the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Gymnasium in Hangzhou, China.
With this, the Shin Yubin-Jeon Jihee pair became the first Korean players in 21 years to advance to the finals of the women's individual event at the Asian Games.
Having previously won bronze medals in the team event, mixed doubles, and singles, Shin Yubin now has the opportunity to challenge for the gold medal.

The final, scheduled to start at 7:30 PM Korean time on the same day, could potentially be a 'North-South showdown.' The Shin Yubin-Jeon Jihee pair will face the winner of the semifinals between North Korea's Cha Suyoung-Park Sukyung pair (unranked) and India's Sutirtha Mukherjee-Aihika Mukherjee pair (ranked 16th) for the gold medal.
