Gyeonggi-do announced on the 2nd that from the 5th to the 9th, the 19th Cactus Festival, hosted by the Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services and sponsored by the Goyang International Flower Exhibition Foundation and the Cactus Research Association Agricultural Cooperative, will take place at the theme plaza of Ilsan Lake Park in Goyang City.
This event, now in its 19th year, was planned to promote the excellence of cacti and succulents in the province and to further develop the floriculture industry.
The festival is divided into Culture Zone, Industry Zone, and Healing Zone, providing a time of healing for residents.
In the Culture Zone, visitors can see new cactus and succulent varieties developed by the Cactus Succulent Research Institute and various rare cacti. The newly introduced Industry Zone this year showcases cactus and succulent-related technologies developed by the same institute.
Gyeonggi-do will especially exhibit award-winning works from the rare cactus and succulent competition, which involved participation from farmers and the general public.
At this Cactus Festival, visitors can see not only the competition entries but also plants from Africa. Additionally, AI artwork exhibitions, paintings, and illustrations themed around cacti and succulents will be displayed.
For farmers, seminars such as "Design Research on Quality Data of Grafted Cacti for AI Learning and Distribution Activation Plans" will be held. Furthermore, during the event, cacti and succulents will be sold on-site, and experiential activities like "Planting Succulent Pots" and "Making Cheonnyeoncho Soap" will be available for visitors to take home as companion plants.
The viewing hours are from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
