An armored vehicle undergoing test driving off the coast of Nam-gu, Pohang City, Gyeongbuk, where the 1st Marine Division is stationed, was submerged. Two defense industry employees went missing in the accident but were safely rescued and transported to a hospital.
According to the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and Hanwha Aerospace on the 26th, around 3 p.m. that day, an armored vehicle undergoing a test run off the coast of Nam-gu was submerged. The two defense industry personnel who went missing and were later rescued were both transported to a hospital, but their health condition has not yet been confirmed.

The accident-involved armored vehicle is the amphibious assault armored vehicle (KAAV-II) being developed under the supervision of the Agency for Defense Development (ADD).

The Defense Acquisition Program Administration stated in a notice sent to the Ministry of National Defense press corps, "A submersion accident occurred while test driving the amphibious assault armored vehicle at a military base located in Pohang City," adding, "The two defense industry passengers who went missing were rescued and are being transported to a hospital." It further explained, "We are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident in close cooperation with related agencies."
