The event inviting Japanese dentists by Osstem Implant took place from the 22nd to the 24th.
More than 130 dentists from various regions across Japan participated in an educational seminar on the first day of the event, with the theme "Clinical Cases Using Osstem Implant OneGuide System." Osstem Implant's "OneGuide" is an implant placement template, a state-of-the-art tool involving digital dental technology.
The company explained that the Japanese dentists showed interest while touring the Osstem Implant product exhibition hall, which featured over 10,000 types of products. Dr. Kanazumi Zenji, who runs a dental clinic in Osaka, said, "Japanese dental products seem to be developed targeting the domestic market, whereas Osstem Implant creates products aiming for global sales, offering diverse functions and options." He added, "Among the products I saw at the Osstem Implant exhibition hall, I would like to purchase and try Osstem's new unit chair 'K5' myself."
The head of sales at Osstem Implant's Japan branch, who personally led the exhibition tour and product introduction that day, said, "Trust with dentists is the most important, and Japan has stricter and more demanding standards and expectations for specialized medical devices than any other country." He continued, "Through this visit event, we were able to effectively showcase our technology and product strengths. Next year, the Japan branch plans to invite twice as many dentists to the Korean headquarters compared to this year."
Meanwhile, according to data released by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in 2021, there are about 110,000 dentists and approximately 68,000 dental clinics in Japan. Considering that Korea has about 20,000 dentists and 18,000 dental clinics, the Japanese market is roughly five times larger. Osstem Implant explained that implant treatment in Japan is a high-value-added revenue source because it is not covered by national health insurance regardless of age group.
