Sacheon City Holds Practical Council Meeting for Sacheon Airport Revitalization
Korea Airports Corporation, Gyeongnam Province, and City/County Aviation Companies
To revitalize Sacheon Airport, the only airport in Gyeongnam Province, Korea Airports Corporation, Gyeongnam Province, eight cities and counties, and aviation companies gathered.
On the 26th, Sacheon City in Gyeongnam announced that it held the "2023 Second Half Sacheon Airport Revitalization Working Council" at the city hall's third-floor conference room, with officials from the Sacheon Airport Revitalization Working Council in attendance.
This working council included participants from the aviation industry such as Jin Air and Korea Airports Corporation, as well as eight western region cities and counties including Gyeongsangnam-do, Sacheon City, Jinju City, Tongyeong City, Goseong County, Namhae County, Hadong County, Sancheong County, and Hamyang County.
Sacheon City is conducting the 2023 Sacheon Airport Revitalization Working Council.
View original imageDuring the working council, discussions were held on financial support from cities and counties for revitalizing Sacheon Airport, ways to utilize promotional spaces within Sacheon Airport, plans to expand linked discounts at Sacheon Airport, and countermeasures for airline route suspensions.
In particular, with the Aerospace Administration Agency's opening approaching, they also reviewed the construction and expansion of Sacheon Airport in preparation for an increase in passengers.
Additionally, due to the suspension of Hi Air's flight routes from September 1 to October 28, discussions were held on measures to alleviate passenger inconvenience.
Furthermore, it was resolved that local governments and related agencies will strive to minimize passenger inconvenience through prompt responses in the event of future airline operation suspensions.
A city official stated, "Since Sacheon Airport has passenger demand across the province's cities and counties, cooperation between the province and local governments is important for airport revitalization," adding, "Ahead of the Aerospace Administration Agency's opening, we will continue cooperation with related agencies to revitalize Sacheon Airport."
