Korea Airports Corporation Operates Special Traffic Countermeasures Headquarters for Chuseok Holiday
1.66 Million Airport Users Expected... 1.9% Increase Compared to Previous Year
Korea Airports Corporation announced on the 25th that it will operate a special transportation countermeasure headquarters at its headquarters and 14 airports nationwide for seven days during the Chuseok holiday (from the 27th to October 3rd).
During this period, the expected number of passengers at airports nationwide, excluding Incheon Airport, is approximately 1.66 million (1.33 million domestic, 330,000 international). The average daily number of passengers is about 237,000, a 1.9% increase compared to last year (190,000 domestic, 47,000 international). International passengers are expected to recover to about 92% of the 2019 level. A total of 9,596 flights (7,726 domestic, 1,870 international) are expected to operate.

According to pre-analysis through simulation, Gimpo Airport and Gimhae Airport are expected to be busiest on the 28th, and Jeju Airport on the 2nd of next month. The corporation will deploy an additional 34 passenger-facing staff for identity verification and security screening and 16 parking lot guidance personnel daily compared to normal times during peak congestion hours. They also plan to secure 3,596 temporary parking spaces to alleviate congestion.
Since the 14th, the CEO and management have been conducting on-site safety and security inspections at airports nationwide. On the 22nd, the CEO-led special transportation countermeasure inspection meeting and on-site inspection at Gimpo Airport confirmed preparedness. Each airport also completed its own special inspections over 11 days starting from the 4th.
