National Folk Museum Hosts 'Chuseok Hanmadang' Festival
On the 25th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that during the Chuseok holiday (September 28 to October 3), eighteen national museums and art galleries will present various events. They plan to inspect the sites and devise effective response measures to ensure visitors do not experience any inconvenience. A ministry official said, "We hope everyone creates joyful memories through cultural events with their beloved family and relatives and enjoys a bountiful Chuseok."
The National Museum of Korea will offer free admission to the special exhibition "Eternal Journey, Special Companionship: Pictorial Pottery and Figurine Decorated Pottery" until October 9. Regional national museums (Gyeongju, Gwangju, Jeonju, Daegu, Buyeo, Jinju, Cheongju, Gimhae, Chuncheon, Naju, Iksan) will welcome family visitors with folk game experiences, traditional performances, and family movie screenings.
The National Folk Museum of Korea will hold "2023 National Folk Museum of Korea Chuseok Festival - The Full Moon Has Risen," celebrating and giving thanks for a bountiful harvest. The event includes Pyeongtaek Nongak, Yeongdeok Wolwolicheongcheong performances, seasonal experiences celebrating the first harvest, 70s and 80s experiences, family bonding craft activities, and online events.
The National Museum of Korean Contemporary History will present "Companionship," a special exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Korea-US alliance. This exhibition comprehensively explores the cooperative relationship between Korea and the US, including the background of the Korea-US Mutual Defense Treaty. The National Hangeul Museum will hold online events from October 4 to 10, Hangeul Week. Participants who solve Hangeul-themed puzzles on social media (Instagram) will be entered into a draw to win beverage vouchers.

The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art will hold solo exhibitions of contemporary artists Kim Ku-rim and Jung Yeon-du in Seoul, a retrospective of Jang Uk-jin at Deoksugung Palace, a retrospective of Lee Shin-ja in Gwacheon, and a Picasso ceramics exhibition in Cheongju.
