Establishing a Bridge for Local Companies to Enter the Global Market through Human and Material Support
Songpa-gu will expand exchange and cooperation in the economic sector with its sister city Christchurch to help local companies with capabilities and potential enter the global market.
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that on the 23rd, it held a meeting with the mayor of Christchurch, New Zealand, who was visiting to attend the 23rd Hanseong Baekje Cultural Festival at Olympic Parktel, and signed the "Songpa-gu-Christchurch Economic Cooperation MOU."
Christchurch is a major city in the Canterbury region located on the east coast of New Zealand's South Island, serving as the political, economic, cultural, and tourism center of the South Island. Songpa-gu and Christchurch have been sister cities since 1995 and have maintained cooperative relations in various fields.
In particular, this business agreement was prepared to expand economic cooperation and exchange between the two cities of Songpa-gu and Christchurch. The areas for expanding practical exchange support include ▲ advanced technology industries such as AI and ICT ▲ cultural content and tourism industries ▲ biotechnology.
The signing ceremony lasted 90 minutes, beginning with greetings from Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, and Phil Mauger, Mayor of Christchurch, and included participation from four representatives of prominent local businesspeople in various fields.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, "We expect that this MOU signing will greatly contribute to the economic development and friendly cooperation between Songpa-gu and Christchurch, New Zealand."
Phil Mauger, Mayor of Christchurch, responded, "I believe there are many areas where the two cities can cooperate, especially in new technology fields related to ICT and in the seed industry, which is called the semiconductor of agriculture."
Following this, representatives of local businesses introduced their companies: Asia Seed (CEO Ryu Kyung-oh), awarded multiple times for biotechnology research; Ujubaengsa (CEO Jo Kyung-min), developing outdoor advertising platforms; Honey Arcade (CEO Kim Min-gyun), a smart tourism company providing mobile navigation services; and Charatu (CEO Kim Jin-seop), offering medical research statistical analysis services using big data.
After the company introductions, a Q&A and exchange session took place between Christchurch officials and participating companies. This provided a valuable opportunity for local companies to serve as a foothold for entering the global market.
