Seoul City Lowers Fares and Expands Fleet for Disabled Voucher Taxis
Seoul City announced on the 21st that it will gradually improve the convenience of using voucher taxis for people with disabilities through fare reductions and an increase in the number of operating vehicles.
Among non-wheelchair disabled persons registered with the Disabled Call Taxi or Disabled Welfare Call, Seoul citizens aged 14 or older who call and board a mid-sized taxi will receive 75% support for the fare.
The number of voucher taxis in operation will be significantly increased from the current 1,600 to 8,600. In addition to the existing voucher call taxi companies Nabi Call and Gukmin Cab, 7,000 vehicles from Onda Taxi will participate. The relatively high fare for disabled voucher use will be lowered to the level of disabled call taxis. It will be 1,500 KRW for up to 5 km, 2,900 KRW for 10 km, and 3,600 KRW for 20 km.
The eligibility criteria will also be relaxed from Seoul citizens aged 14 or older who have separately registered to those who have consented to provide personal information among subscribers of Disabled Call Taxi and Disabled Welfare Call. Currently, to use the disabled voucher taxi, one must call Nabi Call or Gukmin Cab separately, but subscribers of Disabled Call Taxi will be able to call the Seoul Facilities Corporation Mobility Support Center, unifying the calling route. The fare reduction and expansion of the number of operating vehicles will be implemented on the 25th of this month, and call reception at the Seoul Facilities Corporation Mobility Support Center will begin on the 5th of next month.
