Gah Sam-hyun, Vice Chairman of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Awarded Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit on 'Korean Shipbuilding and Offshore Day'
Ga Sam-hyun, Vice Chairman of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, received the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit for his contributions to the development of the shipbuilding and marine industry.
On the 20th, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held the 20th Shipbuilding and Marine Day commemorative event at L Tower in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, awarding government commendations to 33 contributors to the shipbuilding and marine industry. Shipbuilding and Marine Day has been celebrated since 2004 to commemorate September 15, 1097, when ship orders surpassed 10 million tons.
Vice Chairman Ga was highly praised for his achievements in contributing to orders focused on high value-added vessels and improving profitability, as well as leading the paradigm shift in the shipbuilding industry through the commercialization of eco-friendly and smart ships via technological development, earning him the honor of receiving the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit.
Joining HD Hyundai Heavy Industries' ship sales division in 1982, Vice Chairman Ga has contributed to strengthening the competitiveness of the shipbuilding industry for over 30 years. He said, "Receiving the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit is thanks to the HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore employees who worked together with a sense of mission," adding, "I will do my best for the development of the Korean shipbuilding industry."
Also on the day, Jang Yoon-geun, CEO of K Shipbuilding, received the Bronze Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit as a business leader for overcoming the decade-long recession and normalizing K Shipbuilding, contributing to the improvement of national export performance and regional economic development.
In addition, Seo Heung-won, Vice President of HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, and Ji Yong-gwan, Plant Manager of HJ Heavy Industries, received the Industrial Medal. Three individuals received the Presidential Citation (Lee Byung-seon, Team Leader at Samsung Heavy Industries; Lee Dong-kwon, Senior Manager at Hanwha Ocean; Lee Woo-gap, CEO of Chingu Co., Ltd.), three received the Prime Minister’s Citation (Lee Ju-ho, Manager at Daesun Shipbuilding; Choi Gwi-yong, Executive Director at HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries; Han An-seok, CEO of Hanil Co., Ltd.), 20 received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Citation, and three received the Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office Citation.

Jang Young-jin, First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, stated, "In the first half of the year, ship exports increased by 12%, and we hold 87% of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier market, creating favorable conditions for our shipbuilding industry," adding, "Given the many internal and external challenges such as the transition to a carbon-neutral and eco-friendly paradigm and the pursuit by emerging countries, the public and private sectors must unite their capabilities to resolve labor shortages, secure cutting-edge technology, and support small and medium shipbuilders, and move forward together for a new leap forward in the shipbuilding industry."
