Boseong Bongnim District Selected for 'Flood and Wind Disaster Living Zone Improvement Project' Competition

Selected through public competition, securing a total project cost of 35.8 billion KRW

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 15th that Bongnim District in Beolgyo-eup was finally selected in the ‘2024 Comprehensive Flood and Disaster Prevention Project’ contest hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, securing a total project budget of 35.8 billion KRW.

To be selected for the contest for Bongnim District in Beolgyo-eup, which has a high possibility of large-scale flood damage, Boseong-gun actively conveyed the necessity of the project to central government agencies by promoting a feasibility study and basic plan establishment service in February.

Also, after applying as a project site to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in April, it was finally selected through the first document screening, second presentation screening, and third on-site inspection.

This project maximizes investment effects such as budget savings and construction period reduction by focusing on a regional unit living zone-centered project rather than a fragmented investment method based on individual projects by each ministry, resulting in a budget saving effect of 12.9 billion KRW.

The ‘Beolgyo Bongnim District Comprehensive Flood and Disaster Prevention Project’ plans to carry out the basic and detailed design in 2024, installation of a riverside reservoir, construction of a new drainage pump station (1 site) and expansion (1 site), expansion of a retention basin (1 site), and maintenance of 1.8 km of stormwater pipes.

In particular, the riverside reservoir is scheduled for completion in 2027 with a total project cost of 35.8 billion KRW.

Kim Cheol-woo, the governor of Boseong-gun, said, “Through this project, the flooding problems in Beolgyo-eup downtown and Bongnim-ri areas will be resolved, allowing residents to focus on their livelihoods with peace of mind.” He added, “We will do our best to promote the project so that people can live safely from natural disasters.”

Meanwhile, the ‘2024 Comprehensive Flood and Disaster Prevention Project’ is a large-scale regional disaster prevention project that eliminates flood and heavy rain vulnerabilities within living zones. It comprehensively maintains rivers, pump stations, stormwater drainage, steep slopes, reservoirs, etc., implemented by various ministries.
