GS Shop Builds Network-Based Broadcasting System to "Enhance Digital Content Capabilities"
GS Shop announced on the 18th that it has completed a digital studio by building the first NDI (Network Device Interface)-based broadcasting system in the home shopping industry.
Following the installation of a massive LED wall measuring 35.1m wide and 4.8m high in its largest studio at the end of July, GS Shop established an NDI protocol-based broadcasting system in August, enabling the operation of the most sophisticated digital studio.
NDI is a protocol that allows multiple broadcasting devices to be controlled and video and audio data to be shared over a network. For example, to conduct a live broadcast outside the studio, cameras and transmission equipment had to be directly connected by cables. However, with an NDI-based broadcasting system, devices can be connected via a network, eliminating such constraints. Additionally, to broadcast the same screen on TV and mobile, separate cameras had to film for each channel, but with an NDI-based system, footage captured by a single camera can be transmitted in real time to both TV and mobile. This makes it easy to overcome physical limitations such as broadcasting equipment and space.
GS Shop introduced the NDI-based broadcasting system to further advance the digital studio currently under construction. Since the LED wall can use digital sources as studio backgrounds, combining it with NDI technology, which allows flexible use of various video sources, creates new synergy.
Implementing augmented reality (AR) beyond the LED wall area has also become much more convenient. The size of video sources, which was previously limited to the 16:9 ratio, can now be used in desired sections and sizes, making home shopping broadcasts more diverse and dynamic. In fact, during the Aurora Tour travel product broadcast on the 7th, a beautiful aurora filling the night sky was realized, captivating customers and resulting in about 1,200 consultation reservations.

Kwon In-hyuk, manager of GS Shop’s Video Production Team 2, explained, “The NDI-based broadcasting system is similar to connecting various home appliances and devices such as lights, TVs, and electronics to a network for remote control and functions that were previously impossible.” He added, “We will strive to provide differentiated experiences to both customers and partners by utilizing various digital content that was difficult to apply to the LED wall, the core of the digital studio.”
