Yangcheon-gu Provides Free Flu Vaccinations to Over 140,000 Children, Pregnant Women, and Seniors
Sequential Free Influenza Quadrivalent Vaccine Vaccinations from September 20 to April 30 Next Year
Children, Elderly, and Pregnant Women Can Get Vaccinated at 196 Designated Medical Institutions Nationwide Regardless of Residence
Vulnerable Groups and National Merit Recipients Can Also Get Vaccinated at 98 Nearby Clinics and Hospitals Starting This Year
Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that from September 20 to April 30 of next year, free influenza quadrivalent vaccine inoculations will be provided to approximately 140,000 children, pregnant women, elderly, and vulnerable groups.
This year's vaccine includes all four strains of influenza: two types of influenza A virus and two types of influenza B virus. Since influenza typically spreads from November to April of the following year, the district will begin vaccinations sequentially from the end of September, considering the duration of vaccine effectiveness.
Children, pregnant women, and the elderly can receive free vaccinations at 196 designated medical institutions nationwide regardless of their residence, according to their age-specific schedule. To improve accessibility for vulnerable groups such as medical aid recipients and national merit recipients, vaccinations will be conducted at 98 designated medical institutions within the district.
The vaccination periods by target group are as follows: ▲ Children requiring two doses (first-time recipients under 9 years old) from September 20 to April 30 of next year ▲ Children requiring one dose (aged 6 months to 13 years) and pregnant women from October 5 to April 30 of next year ▲ Elderly aged 75 and above from October 11 to April 30 of next year ▲ Elderly aged 70 to 74 from October 16 to April 30 of next year ▲ Elderly aged 65 to 69 from October 19 to April 30 of next year ▲ Vulnerable groups aged 14 to 64 and national merit recipients from October 23 to April 30 of next year.
Designated medical institutions for vaccination can be checked on the Vaccination Helper website or the Yangcheon-gu Public Health Center website. Since vaccine stock levels vary depending on the medical institution's situation, it is recommended to call ahead to confirm availability before visiting during the vaccination period.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, stated, “The influenza epidemic advisory has unusually continued throughout the year, indicating a significant decrease in natural immunity to the flu.” He added, “As the situation may worsen during the winter season, the national vaccination program will be conducted sequentially. We strongly encourage children, pregnant women, the elderly, and others to complete their vaccinations within the recommended period.”
