"1.8 Million Won for Two Tickets?" Im Young-woong's Concert Crackdown on Scalping
Resale Site Selling Scalped Tickets for 300,000~600,000 KRW
Agency "Immediate Cancellation if Considered Illegal Transaction"
Singer Lim Young-woong's Seoul concert sold out instantly as a ticket-buying frenzy, known as "picketing" (pi + ticketing), broke out right after the ticket sales opened. Scalpers appeared within the family circle, purchasing tickets and reselling them at inflated prices. In particular, illegal ticket transactions priced at several million won per ticket were rampant, prompting the agency to warn fans to be cautious of such illegal dealings.
At 8 p.m. on the 14th, ticket reservations for the 2023 Lim Young-woong nationwide tour concert "I'm Hero" Seoul performance opened on the ticketing site Interpark Ticket. Within just one minute of the ticket sales starting, 3.7 million people rushed to purchase tickets, resulting in a complete sell-out. This marked the highest traffic ever recorded on Interpark Ticket.
As the number of simultaneous connections surged immediately upon opening, ticket buyers flocked at a record-breaking speed. Consequently, scalpers appeared online. As of the 15th, multiple scalpers posted ads on secondhand trading sites offering Lim Young-woong concert tickets for 300,000 to 600,000 won per ticket. One scalper even posted an ad demanding 1.8 million won for two tickets. There were even sellers suspected of fraudulent transactions, prompting a warning for caution.
Fans are uniting in sentiment to guard against scalpers who disrupt the culture and order of the concert experience.
Lim Young-woong's agency plans to do its utmost to manage illegal ticket sales against scalpers. The agency, Fish Music, stated, "We will immediately cancel any bookings deemed to be illegal transactions without prior notice," signaling a strong response. They also repeatedly urged caution and warned against damages caused by illegal ticket trading and fraud.
Lim Young-woong will hold six Seoul concerts at the KSPO Dome in Olympic Park from October 27 to November 5. Starting in Seoul, the nationwide tour will continue through Daegu, Busan, and Gwangju. The KSPO Dome has a capacity of about 15,000 people and is a venue where it is difficult to sell out even for a single day, typically hosting top-tier singers.
