Lee So-young: "Defense Minister Who Made 'Moon's Neck' Remark? The Public Is Bitter"
Democratic Party Lawmaker, CBS Radio Interview
"Are You Sure Shin Won-sik Is the Nominee?" Ruling Party Lawmakers Flustered
"BTS, Netflix Era, What Is This About Yoon In-chon?"
Democratic Party lawmaker Lee So-young expressed doubts about the nomination of Shin Won-sik, the Ministry of National Defense candidate who sparked controversy with remarks such as "It's only a matter of time before we cut off Moon Jae-in's neck," saying, "Is it really necessary to appoint someone like this as a cabinet member and make the public feel bitter?"
On the 15th, Lee appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and stated, "(Besides candidate Shin) there are many generals in the Republic of Korea who can handle defense policy well."
Lee criticized, "Many People Power Party lawmakers say it's okay because those remarks were made when he was a civilian, but the problem is turning a civilian who makes such remarks into a public official," adding, "In 2019, he made a name for himself at the Taegeukgi rallies by talking about 'cutting off necks,' yet the People Power Party still made him a proportional representative. Do we really have to make someone like this a minister?"
She continued, "I also saw comments saying, 'Why do the people have to live in a country where someone like this is a minister?'" and conveyed, "Even ruling party lawmakers are struggling when asked, 'Is it right to nominate this person?'?this is the atmosphere I sense in the National Assembly."
Lee also criticized Kim Haeng, the candidate for Minister of Gender Equality and Family, and Yoo In-chon, the candidate for Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. She said, "Minister Kim Hyun-sook broke the spirit of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and when People Power Party lawmaker Kwon Seong-dong said, 'The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family is a budget-consuming department,' she did not offer a single rebuttal or explanation. I believe the same applies to candidate Kim Haeng; it is predetermined that she will not be able to play a good role as a minister."
Furthermore, she said, "Candidate Yoo In-chon, regardless of the blacklist issue, how he was as Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the 'Don't shoot' insults, even putting all that aside, what is the meaning of Yoo In-chon as minister in the BTS and Netflix era?" She added, "The culture from decades ago when he was actively involved in the cultural sector is different in content, consumption methods, and values from today's culture."

Regarding Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung's hunger strike, she criticized, saying, "The distance from the People Power Party leader's meeting room to the meeting room where Leader Lee is on hunger strike is less than 1 minute on foot, less than 50 meters," and added, "If they came directly to shake hands and said, 'Let's cooperate better from now on, please end your hunger strike,' how good would that look to the public? I don't understand why that can't happen."
