The "Seeing the Value and Dreams of Agriculture" themed "2023 Korea Agriculture Expo," which opened on the 14th at the aT Center in Yangjae, Seoul, will run until the 17th.
At the official opening ceremony, 11 distinguished guests, including Kang Hyung-seok, Director General of Planning and Coordination at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Cho Jae-ho, Administrator of the Rural Development Administration, and Lee Jong-soon, President of the Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. A representative from the Korea Agency of Agricultural Management, which is organizing the expo, said, "As Korea's agricultural industry is gaining global attention, overseas visitors showed great interest in the Korea Agriculture Expo." He added, "Additionally, public officials from ASEAN+3 countries and a group of village chiefs from rural China visited the expo to engage and exchange with Korea's agriculture and rural communities."
The expo, running until the 17th, showcases the diverse charms of agriculture to visitors through five themes: Agriculture and Life, Vibrant Rural Areas, Colorful Agriculture, Challenges in Agriculture, and Agriculture and the Future, along with conferences and sales exhibitions.
On the opening day, Chef Shin In-ho held a cooking show at the Rice Promotion Hall, featuring dishes made with rice powder, including a tasting event for rice powder gnocchi. On the 15th, a conference will be held featuring sessions on innovative technologies in future agriculture, future agriculture itself, and the last blue ocean of humanity, farm business. The keynote speech, titled "Innovation and Future of Agriculture in the Web 3.0 and Metaverse Era," will be delivered by Hyun Dae-won, Dean of the Metaverse Graduate School at Sogang University. He will present a vision of agriculture evolving through the fusion of agriculture and the metaverse, expanding into new innovations and diverse business opportunities, forecasting future agriculture from crop cultivation management to new agricultural product commerce and farm tourism commercialization. Professor Ryu Chang-wan of Hanyang University's Department of Industrial Convergence will analyze startup opportunities from an entrepreneurial perspective under the theme "Farm Business Startup Design," introducing promising fields such as agricultural robots, indoor farms, alternative meat, and precision agriculture as viable business models, and will suggest the right direction for startups.
Meanwhile, during the expo period, an online agricultural and food product sales promotion will be held simultaneously. Products from companies participating in the expo and those from various sales outlets can be purchased at discounted prices.
