Dobong-gu Wins Excellence Award at the 25th Sustainable Development Contest
Dobong-gu, a Sustainable Development City, Wins Excellence Award for 'Sustainable Development Education (ESD) Joint Certification Credit System at Higher Education Level'... Recognized for Active Efforts in Collaboration with Other Institutions and Achieving Sustainable Development Goals
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it received an Excellence Award in the group category of the 25th Sustainable Development Contest organized by the National Council for Sustainable Development for the case of the "Higher Education Level Sustainable Development Education (ESD) Joint Certification Credit System."
The ESD Joint Certification Credit System, selected as an excellent case in this contest, is the nation's first future-oriented practical sustainable development education program developed by leveraging the expertise and field experience of three institutions: Dobong-gu, the Korean National Commission for UNESCO, and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
Based on SGD4. Quality Education, cooperation among local governments, international organizations, and universities, and responding to the interest and demand for sustainability among the younger generation, it was prepared through collaboration among the three institutions.
Through this award in the group category, Dobong-gu has been externally recognized for its active practical efforts to collaborate with other institutions and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "We will continue cooperation and collaboration with other institutions for sustainable development education that encompasses all generations," adding, "We will always contemplate the district administration that includes Sustainable Development Goals to maintain the status of Dobong-gu as a sustainable development city."

Meanwhile, since receiving RCE certification as a sustainable development education hub city from the UN University in 2020, Dobong-gu has played a leading role domestically and internationally in the field of sustainable development. In 2021, it was also selected as an excellent case of a sustainable development hub city by the UN University.
