Sancheong Expo to Host Academic Events with International Experts
Revitalizing the Global Traditional Medicine and Well-Aging Industry
Participation from Seven Organizations, Over 2,200 Experts Attending
The Sancheong World Traditional Medicine Anti-Aging Expo Organizing Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Organizing Committee) will hold academic conferences on global traditional medicine and well-aging during the Expo at the Sancheong Korean Medicine Family Hotel and the Seoul National University Global Engineering Center.
The purpose of these academic conferences is to share research achievements related to global traditional medicine and well-aging, and to explore strategies for industrial development, thereby adding high value to traditional medicine. More than 2,200 domestic and international experts from seven organizations, including the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development, will participate. A total of five conferences will be held, including three international conferences and two domestic conferences.
The largest of these is the 20th International Congress of Oriental Medicine (ICOM), which will take place on September 17 at the Seoul National University Global Engineering Education Center under the theme “Traditional Medicine as Integrative Medicine.”
This event aims to expand the scope of healthcare through the achievements of traditional medicine and to identify development strategies for traditional medicine from an integrative medical perspective. Choi Seunghoon, President of the International Society of Oriental Medicine (ISOM), will deliver the keynote speech on “The Future of Traditional Medicine.” The expert forum will feature 38 speakers (23 domestic, 15 international) from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Greece, Australia, and other countries.
The remaining four academic conferences will be held at the Sancheong Korean Medicine Family Hotel.
On September 20 and 21, the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development will host an international conference on global traditional medicine cooperation. The conference, themed “Traditional Medicine as a Future Industry,” will bring together 28 traditional medicine experts from 10 countries, including Korea, China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Laos, Mongolia, and the United States, to discuss directions for developing the traditional medicine industry by utilizing Korea’s advanced technologies.
On September 22, the Jinju Bio Industry Promotion Agency will host the Anti-Aging Green Bio Symposium. This event will explore ways to create added value by linking the green bio industry, which is gaining attention as a future food industry, with the anti-aging sector.
On October 5 and 6, the Korean Society for Life Sciences will host the International Life Science Conference. Experts in anti-aging natural products from seven countries-Korea, the United States, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Indonesia, Portugal, and Bangladesh-will participate under the theme of “Natural Product-Based Life Sciences for Healthy Pleasure.”
“Healthy pleasure” is a term that combines “healthy” and “pleasure,” referring to an approach that makes health management enjoyable and thus promotes sustainable health practices.
Finally, on October 13, the Korean Medicine Anti-Aging Wellness Conference will be jointly hosted by the Gyeongnam Anti-Aging Wellness Association and the Gyeongnam Anti-Aging Research Institute. This conference will propose strategies for advancing the anti-aging industry and developing wellness tourism content based on anti-aging products from the Jirisan region.
Park Jeongjun, Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee, said, “Through the academic conferences of the Sancheong World Traditional Medicine Anti-Aging Expo, we hope to widely promote the excellence and efficacy of global traditional medicine and to provide momentum for the development and revitalization of the domestic anti-aging industry.”
