Park In-bee, a candidate for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Athletes' Commission, had a meeting with Ban Ki-moon, Chair of the IOC Ethics Commission.
The Korea Sports Promotion Foundation announced on the 14th that "three days ago, candidate Park visited the Ban Ki-moon Foundation for a Better Future in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and met with former UN Secretary-General and Foundation Chairman Ban Ki-moon, as well as Jo Hyun-jae, Chairman of the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation."

Park In-bee said, "The Olympics is an important event that realizes global peace and friendship," adding, "It is a competition where the united power of sports can be realized." Chairman Ban encouraged her by saying, "We hope Park In-bee will become a pillar of our country's sports diplomacy." Chairman Jo also said, "I strongly support Park In-bee's campaign to spread the Olympic legacy. Let us work together with the Foundation to promote Olympic value education and the dissemination of sports values."

Park In-bee was selected as the final candidate for the IOC Korean Athletes' Commission on the 14th of last month. She won the competition against Jin Jong-oh (shooting), Kim Yeon-koung (volleyball), Lee Dae-hoon (taekwondo), and Kim So-young (badminton). The IOC reviews candidates recommended by each country and selects the final athlete commission candidates. The election of IOC Athletes' Commission members is done by direct voting from athletes participating in the Olympics. To become an IOC Athletes' Commission member, a candidate must rank within the top four in the vote at the Paris Olympics, which will conclude on August 11 next year.
