Muan-gun Holds Direct Trade Market for Agricultural Specialties for Chuseok at the National Assembly
Muan Fresh Sweet Potatoes, Onions, and Gim Showcase Regional Representative Agricultural and Marine Products
Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) held a direct transaction market for agricultural and marine specialty products in celebration of Chuseok on the 14th in front of the National Assembly Communication Hall, together with the Jeonnam Headquarters of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation.
According to the county, the direct transaction market, held over two days from the 14th to the 15th, was organized to promote and boost consumption of local agricultural specialty products for Chuseok. Attendees included Governor Kim San, local National Assembly member Seo Sam-seok, Seo Nambu Vegetable Cooperative Chairman Bae Jeong-seop, and County Branch Manager Kim Hae-jong, with about 150 hometown residents in Seoul assisting with sales and promotion.

View original imageWith participation from three farms and companies including fresh sweet potatoes, onions, and Muan traditional laver, more than 20 varieties of Muan’s premium agricultural and marine specialty products were showcased. The region’s representative agricultural product, fresh sweet potatoes, was already sold out due to high popularity, prompting additional orders for delivery.
Additionally, the event promoted Muan Hwangtorang Rice, which won the Excellence Award for Jeonnam’s high-quality brand rice this year, and held tasting events for onion juice and onion beverages, providing consumers with a direct experience of the excellence of Muan’s agricultural and marine specialty products, further boosting the sales atmosphere.
Governor Kim San stated, “Through this event, I hope the consumption of local agricultural products, which has been struggling due to recent price increases and COVID-19, will be stimulated, providing some help to local farms and businesses. Moving forward, we will continue to fully support efforts to increase farm income by conducting multifaceted promotional and sales activities both online and offline, including direct transaction markets in the metropolitan area, post office shopping malls, and Namdo Market.”
