GNBs Eco to Ship BYD Power Semiconductor Scrubber by the End of This Month
GNS Eco announced on the 13th that it plans to complete the shipment of power semiconductor equipment for China's BYD by the end of this month.
This is a supply contract worth $500,000 for eco-friendly power semiconductor scrubber equipment signed with BYD, the number one electric vehicle manufacturer in China and worldwide, and all units will be exported to the Shanghai area in China.
GNS Eco first signed a power semiconductor scrubber supply contract with BYD in December last year. The first order supply was completed earlier this year. Recently, they received a second purchase order (PO) worth $500,000. The equipment manufacturing is now complete, and final testing is underway.
As the markets for electric vehicles and renewable energy such as solar power grow, the demand for power semiconductors is increasing. Power semiconductors are semiconductors responsible for power conversion and control, and are essential components required in all products equipped with motors. They are gaining attention as essential future semiconductors not only for electric vehicles but also for solar and wind power generation facilities, ESS (energy storage systems), data centers, and robots.
BYD, a global electric vehicle and energy storage system (ESS) manufacturer, has been actively strengthening its power semiconductor business since 2020. With increased investment within the group, its subsidiary BYD Semiconductor has risen to become the world's second-largest company in the power semiconductor IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) sector.
GNS Eco plans to strengthen business cooperation with BYD not only in semiconductors but also in the solar power sector. Since 2010, BYD has been expanding its renewable energy business based on the solar cell business into areas such as renewable energy vehicles, energy storage facilities, and solar power plants. The company explained that BYD is expanding its energy business by vertically integrating electric vehicles, batteries, power semiconductors, and solar power, indicating a wide range of collaboration opportunities.

A company representative said, “As the center of the global industry shifts toward eco-friendliness, semiconductor and solar power industry equipment are also changing accordingly, and scrubbers that remove harmful gases generated during semiconductor and solar power processes are no exception.” He added, “As semiconductor processes become finer, the amount and types of gases used inevitably increase, which means scrubber capacity must also increase, leading to an expansion in demand for high-efficiency, low-power eco-friendly scrubbers.”
