Busan City Establishes and Implements Plan to Promote Warm Chuseok Holiday Celebrations
September 13-27, Intensive Promotion Period for 'Warm Chuseok Holiday'
BNK Busan Bank, Community Chest of Korea, Korean Red Cross, and Others Participate
Busan City has prepared and will implement the ‘2023 Warm Chuseok Holiday Celebration’ promotion plan in celebration of the upcoming Chuseok holiday.
This plan was established to realize ‘Happy Welfare that Empowers Me’ by sharing warm affection with neighbors during the Chuseok holiday.
First, the city has designated the 15 days from the 13th to September 27 as the intensive promotion period for ‘Warm Chuseok Holiday Celebration’ and will practice sharing warm affection with vulnerable groups in the city.
Senior city officials and all departments of the city hall and business offices will deliver donations and goods to over 150 social welfare facilities.
In addition, expenses for ancestral rites tables will be supported at four homeless shelters so that even those who cannot return to their hometowns can hold joint ancestral rites, and 32,000 elderly households living alone will receive 50,000 KRW per person as holiday consolation money.
Related organizations in the city will also extend warm helping hands and participate in the warm Chuseok holiday celebration.
BNK Busan Bank (President Bang Seongbin) plans to support 8,800 low-income households in the Busan area with gift packages worth a total of 440 million KRW, consisting of about 12 types of daily necessities.
The Busan Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Choi Geumsik) will provide special holiday living expenses worth a total of 600 million KRW, giving 50,000 KRW per household to about 12,000 low-income vulnerable households and residents of jjokbang counseling centers.
The Busan branch of the Korean Red Cross (Chairman Seo Jeong-ui) will also support 3,355 low-income households with agricultural and marine product sets worth about 107 million KRW.
Sixteen districts and counties in the city will also actively participate in sharing warmth for the Chuseok holiday for local residents by establishing their own plans.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “Our city, districts and counties, and related organizations and groups have supported socially vulnerable groups such as social welfare facilities every year during the holidays. This year as well, we will carry out the plan steadily without fail,” and added, “As we celebrate the traditional Korean holiday of Hangawi, I ask for the citizens’ great interest and cooperation so that warm affection can be felt through warm attention and care for socially vulnerable groups.”
