5·18 Gongrojahoe Files Complaint for Subsidy Embezzlement Following Audit Results
Members of the 5·18 Democratic Movement Contributors Association, a construction method organization, have been accused of embezzling subsidies received from the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and forging private documents.
According to the Gwangju Western Police on the 12th, a complaint was filed on the same day by the standing auditor of the 5·18 Contributors Association, accusing a total of six people?four current members and two former members?of embezzlement and forgery of private documents in the course of their duties.
According to the complaint, based on the results of a regular audit conducted by the Contributors Association in July, some members of the association allegedly embezzled about 10 million won paid by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.
In addition, the complaint also claimed that several million won were misappropriated for personal use, such as watching movies at a cinema using the association’s corporate card.
