Mayor Lee Gang-deok, 'Field-Centered Communication Walk' Draws Pohang's Future Together with Citizens
On the 12th, Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang began active on-site communication with residents of eup, myeon, and dong, starting with Guryongpo-eup.
On the 12th, Pohang City held the "2023 Pohang Construction for Leap to the World: 8th Term Civil Communication and Empathy Day" event at Guryongpo-eup Administrative Welfare Center, attended by Mayor Lee Kang-deok, city council members, local residents, and about 100 public officials.

This event, organized by Pohang City to communicate with residents of eup, myeon, and dong areas, provided explanations on the policy direction and vision of the 8th term, key city projects, and major investment projects in Guryongpo-eup, while also listening to residents’ opinions.
At the event, under the theme ‘Creative and Convergent Innovation for the Leap to the World 2023 Pohang,’ the city introduced to citizens the promotion strategies for key projects of the 8th term, including secondary batteries, hydrogen fuel cells, bio-health, and the establishment of a medical school.
Additionally, the city communicated with eup residents by explaining Pohang’s key projects such as the Yeongilman Bridge construction, memorial park development project, redevelopment of the old Pohang Station site, Eco Village, as well as major development projects in Guryongpo-eup including the Homigot Peninsula National Marine Ecological Park, construction of the Guryongpo Public Parking Tower, planned competition-type regional tourism development projects, Homigot Peninsula forest welfare complex project, and general agricultural and fishery village development projects in Guryongpo-eup.
Finally, during the dialogue session with eup residents, the city listened to opinions on the Sangjeong District natural disaster risk improvement project, Guryongpo sewage pipeline maintenance, and the relocation issue of the 119 Safety Center, fostering communication.

Mayor Lee Kang-deok stated, “The goal of the 8th term is for Pohang City to build a greater Pohang together with its residents,” adding, “Starting with Guryongpo-eup today, we will strive to create opportunities to communicate and empathize with residents and work together with local residents to seek future development plans for Pohang City.”
