Muan-gun Selected for Livestock Odor Improvement Public Contest Project
Securing a Project Budget of 1 Billion Won Including 200 Million Won in National Funds
Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) has been selected for the '2024 Livestock Odor Improvement Project' organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, securing a project budget of 1 billion KRW, including 200 million KRW in national funds.
According to the county on the 12th, the Livestock Odor Improvement Project is a program that supports facilities and equipment to treat and manage livestock manure, which is the main cause of odor from livestock farms, and to reduce the resulting odor.
In this public contest, 55 cities, counties, and districts nationwide applied, and after the first document screening and the second on-site evaluation, a total of 33 cities and counties were finally selected as priority project targets based on the combined evaluation scores.
Muan-gun applied for and implemented the Livestock Odor Improvement Project last year to resolve odor-related conflicts and complaints between local livestock farms and nearby residents, supporting 32 livestock farms with a project budget of 2.994 billion KRW.
The county plans to focus on improving manure treatment methods, reducing livestock odor, and revitalizing agricultural-livestock recycling for livestock farms that have expressed their intention to participate in the project.
Governor Kim San said, “We will do our best to resolve conflicts between livestock farms and local residents and to create a pleasant livestock environment.”
