'Shillim-dong Sexual Assault Murder' Choi Yoon-jong Arrested and Indicted... "Planned Crime After Watching Busan Roundhouse Kick"
Choi Yoon-jong (30), the suspect in the 'Sillim-dong hiking trail sexual assault and murder case,' was left to stand trial on the 12th.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's dedicated investigation team (led by Kim Bong-jun, Head of the Women's and Children's Crime Investigation Division 2) indicted Choi Yoon-jong on charges of violating the Sexual Violence Punishment Act (rape and murder) and detained him.

The sexual assault attempt was unsuccessful.
The prosecution judged that Choi Yoon-jong, who is unemployed and lacks social skills such as forming close relationships with others, committed the crime to satisfy his sexual desires after reading articles related to sexual assault. In a clinical psychological evaluation by the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, Choi was found to have "no cognitive defects corresponding to intellectual disability, but under a state of reduced self-control and impulse control, the incident was influenced by his acting out to satisfy primitive desires and curiosity about sexual relations."
On Choi Yoon-jong's mobile phone, notes affirming the crime were found from two days before the incident, including phrases like "The brave seize the beauty" and "Humans must seize opportunities." It was also investigated that Choi had read numerous recent articles related to murders.
Notably, Choi testified during the prosecution's investigation that after reading reports on the so-called 'Busan spinning kick' case in May last year, where a woman in her 20s was indiscriminately assaulted and lost consciousness while returning home, he planned to incapacitate his victim and commit the crime in a place without CCTV.

The prosecution also revealed that Choi had meticulously planned the crime for four months. To use as a weapon, he purchased knuckles from an online shopping mall in April, scouted locations without CCTV for a long time, and selected several places as candidate crime scenes. The actual crime scene was one of these candidates. Choi visited the hiking trail where the crime took place dozens of times and was confirmed to have visited twice in the six days before the crime.
