View original imageThe Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has prepared a revision of the "Ordinance on the Rights and Responsibilities of Students in Gyeonggi Province," focusing on strengthening the protection of all students' right to learn and teachers' educational activities, and will soon submit it to the Gyeonggi Provincial Council.
This revision includes ▲limits and responsibilities of freedom and rights ▲rights and responsibilities of students, faculty, and guardians ▲guaranteeing other students' right to learn ▲responsibilities and duties of students and guardians ▲supplementing the prohibition clause on the merit and demerit point system.
It also strengthens respect for students' rights such as ▲the right not to be discriminated against ▲respecting students' opinions on curriculum changes, school events, after-school self-study, and supplementary classes ▲respecting students' choices ▲the right to rest ▲guaranteeing voting and candidacy rights.
The Office of Education will collect opinions from related departments by the 12th, then announce the legislative proposal through the Gyeonggi Provincial Gazette and the Office of Education website on the 18th. After consultations with the Provincial Council, the legislative proposal will be finalized through the legal affairs department's review, followed by approval by the Provincial Council in December, aiming for implementation in January 2024.
