Police Arrest Woman in Her 20s Who Wielded Weapon at Home After Losing Contact
A woman in her 20s was arrested by the police for wielding a weapon against an acquaintance after blocking social networking services (SNS) and cutting off contact.
The Dongdaemun Police Station in Seoul announced on the 11th that they have apprehended Han Mo (24, female) on suspicion of attempted murder and are currently investigating. Han is accused of attempting to kill A (27) by wielding a weapon near an apartment in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, where A lives, on the morning of the 8th. A sustained a wound about 2 cm long on the back, and two passersby restrained Han, preventing more serious injuries.
According to the police, Han met A about 10 times through SNS during high school. After a dispute in an SNS group chat with A on the 19th of last month, Han was blocked on SNS and told "Do not contact me anymore," which led her to harbor resentment and travel from Daejeon, where she lives, to Seoul to commit the crime.
Han stated during the police investigation that she "intended to take an extreme measure." However, the police judged that Han had the intent to kill based on the fact that she waited for about 30 minutes holding a weapon and that she herself was uninjured.
