Luxury goods demands and sending copied posts... Divorced men say "Giving up on remarriage"
Reasons for Breakup Among Divorced Singles Dating with Remarriage Intentions
Women Cite "One-Sided Conversations, Premature Skinship"
What factors cause singles who have returned to dating with remarriage in mind to stop their relationships? Men cited 'demanding luxury gifts,' while women pointed to 'one-sided conversations.'
"Demanding luxury gifts and being seen as a pushover" leads men to break up... Women cite 'one-sided conversations and premature physical contact'
On the 11th, Only-U, a remarriage-specialized matchmaking company, jointly conducted a survey with matchmaking company Bienarae (CEO Son Dong-gyu) from the 4th to the 9th of this month. The survey targeted 516 nationwide (twilight) remarriage hopeful divorced men and women (258 men and 258 women each) via email and phone, asking the key question: "During dating with remarriage in mind, what behaviors from the partner most likely cause the relationship to end?"
In response to this question, 32.2% of men chose 'demanding luxury gifts' as the top reason. This was followed by 'being seen as a pushover (25.2%)', 'one-sided conversations (21.3%)', and 'shabby appearance (14.7%)'.
For women, the highest proportion, 31.0%, answered 'one-sided conversations.' Next were 'premature physical contact attempts (28.7%)', 'shabby appearance (24.0%)', and 'being seen as a pushover (12.0%)'.
Lee Kyung, General Manager of Bienarae, explained, "In meetings between remarriage candidates, it is common for women to demand not only luxury gifts but also money lending, which in most cases leads to the relationship breaking off. Among men, some tend to dominate conversations unilaterally, which women find boring and exhausting, and they consider such men inconsiderate, prompting them to end the relationship quickly."
Men say "I dislike forwarded messages," women say "I dislike incessant contact"
The second question, "During dating with remarriage in mind, what communication issues from the partner make it difficult for the relationship to progress?" also revealed significant differences between men and women.
For this question, 31.8% of men chose "frequently sending forwarded messages," while one in three women (33.3%) answered "incessant contact," each representing the highest proportion in their respective groups.
Following that, men ranked ▲long phone calls (25.5%) ▲incessant contact (19.0%) ▲probing messages (16.3%) in order, while women ranked ▲frequent sending of forwarded messages (26.4%) ▲probing messages (17.1%) ▲late-night contact (15.1%).
Son Dong-gyu, CEO of Only-U, explained, "Men, who generally have more social experience, prefer receiving messages that reflect the sender's own thoughts and are carefully written rather than forwarded messages circulating on the internet. Women, who value their personal lives, find sudden and frequent contact, especially phone calls, surprising and uncomfortable."
Even with good conditions... "Child-related issues and post-remarriage roles are hard to overcome"
Finally, in response to the question, "No matter how good the conditions of the remarriage partner are, what issues would be difficult to overcome?" both men and women pointed to 'children (men 31.8%, women 27.1%)' and 'roles after remarriage (men 26.7%, women 30.6%).'
For the third place, men cited 'religion (17.1%)', while women mentioned 'preferences (19.4%).'
Both men and women ranked 'political orientation (men 16.3%, women 14.3%)' fourth.
An Only-U official stated, "Men prefer that their partner does not have children because they cannot ignore economic issues such as child-rearing and inheritance, as well as relationships with themselves and their biological children. Women, who have a strong desire to compensate for their first marriage failure through remarriage, are highly interested in life after remarriage and tend to avoid men who are passive about sharing household chores."

Lastly, CEO Son Dong-gyu emphasized, "Divorced singles have experienced failed marriages, so they become highly sensitive to every word and action of their remarriage partner, wondering how these will manifest in life after remarriage. Therefore, when dating, one must carefully consider how every move might be perceived by the partner."
