Applicants Surge, Participant Scale Doubled
"Better Because You Can Feel Hangang Directly"
"Wow~" As the sun slowly set between the yachts floating on the Han River, displaying a fantastic palette of colors, one participant exclaimed in awe. Hearing this, other participants stopped walking and turned their heads, echoing the same exclamation. Among middle-aged women joking with their friends, smiles blossomed as they said, "See, it was worth coming."

About 200 participants enjoyed the sunset and scenery of the Han River while walking approximately 5.7 km from Yeouido, passing Seoul Marina and Yanghwa Bridge, to Mangwon Hangang Park.
The event began at 5:30 PM at the Yeouido Event Plaza. Participants gathered to receive a brief photography lesson from photographer Lee Byung-guk, along with warm-up exercises and course guidance, before departing at 6 PM toward Mangwon Hangang Park.

During the walk, attendees enjoyed the autumn atmosphere of the Han River and shared stories they had postponed, showing cheerful expressions. However, whenever a beautiful sunset appeared along the course, everyone eagerly raised their smartphones to take photos.
The photographer advised on tips for taking great sunset photos: "The easiest and most basic but very important thing is to clean your smartphone lens." He added, "For portrait photos against backlight, professional equipment is needed, so don't place the sunset too far behind; shooting from a slight side angle better reveals the subject's expression." Before the event started, he said, "Considering today's weather and the Han River scenery, just pressing the shutter will produce a masterpiece. I was worried about the weather, but with some clouds, the sunset reflected on them will be fantastic."

Originally planned for 100 participants, the 'Sunset Painting Trail Course 1' held in June gained popularity by word of mouth, and as applications for Courses 2 and 3 exceeded 3,000, the number of participants was urgently increased to around 200.
Participant satisfaction was also high. An elderly couple met along the course said, "We applied for both Courses 2 and 3, but only got selected for Course 2. After experiencing Course 2, we liked it so much that even though we weren't selected for Course 3, we came early and registered on-site to participate."
The participants were diverse, regardless of age or gender. Many joined as families, but there were also many who came with friends. According to a survey of Course 1 participants, 39% were family participants, followed by 31% friends, and 20% solo participants. The Future Hangang Headquarters also produced and distributed various audio content on science and literature, considering solo attendees.

I am taking video and photo creative education provided by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and I came because I wanted to take photos of the Han River sunset."
Especially, the Han River scenery, which is usually hard to encounter, was the charm of this third course. Behind Yeouido Hangang Marina is a place with low foot traffic, usually quiet, but it offers a peaceful atmosphere and a beautiful view of Yanghwa Bridge. A female high school student who came with friends said, "I didn't know there was such a nice place on the Han River. A friend who couldn't come today often walks their dog along the Han River, and now I understand why."

Participants expressed high satisfaction and hopes for more events like this in the future. A participant from Siheung said, "Usually, the Han River is just a place I pass by during commuting, so it's not easy to experience it up close like this. Also, it's great to be introduced to hotspots I didn't know about, and since there is no participation fee, I hope there will be more events like this."
