7-Year-Old American Girl Finds 2.95-Carat Large Diamond During Birthday Park Visit... A Lucky Discovery
Discovered at Diamond Crater State Park
A 7-year-old girl living in the United States celebrated her birthday by visiting a state park with her family and succeeded in finding a large diamond as a 'gift for herself.'
According to the Arkansas State Park Office on the 9th (local time), Aspen Brown (7), who visited the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro, Arkansas, on the 1st, discovered a 2.95-carat golden diamond within the park. The diamond was said to be about the size of a green pea.
This park allows visitors to keep any gems they find after paying the entrance fee. Those who find diamonds here can name the diamond after themselves, and Aspen Brown, whose last name is Brown, enjoyed the thrilling luck of discovering a brown (brown-colored) diamond.
It was reported that Aspen, whose birthday it was at the time, visited the park with her father and grandmother to celebrate her birthday.
Her father, Luther Brown, recounted, "Aspen was hot and walked over to a large rock next to the fence to sit down for a moment, then ran to me saying, 'Dad, Dad, I found it!'"
The park confirmed that the gem Aspen found was indeed a diamond.
Waymon Cox, the park's deputy superintendent, said, "This diamond has a sparkling luster and is a perfect crystal with no broken surfaces," and added, "It is one of the most beautiful diamonds found in recent years."
The diamond is known to be the second-largest diamond found by visitors to the park this year. The largest this year was a 3.29-carat diamond discovered in March.
According to the park, 563 diamonds have been found this year, totaling over 89 carats. Typically, diamonds found here range from 0.05 to 0.2 carats.
