Gochang-gun, Dolmen Site Media Art Opens on the 15th

Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, will open the '2023 Gochang Dolmen Cultural Heritage Media Art' from the 15th of this month to October 14th.

According to the county on the 8th, the dolmen heritage media art, held under the theme 'Gochang Dolmen Heritage Starlight Journey,' is hosted and organized by Gochang-gun, the Cultural Heritage Administration, and Jeollabuk-do.

In September, it is closed only on Mondays and Tuesdays, and in October, only on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

This year, at the Dolmen Museum and the dolmen heritage site, visitors will embark on a night light journey with starlight and dolmens through three themes (▲Dolmen! Awakening ▲Time Reversing ▲Beyond Time).

Eleven contents will be presented, including various experiential immersive contents utilizing the museum and heritage site, night lighting and photo zones, artist spaces and projection mapping held in the prehistoric village within the heritage site, and large-scale media fa?ades displayed on three courses of the heritage site.

In particular, the main space of the media art will feature cutting-edge technology called stack projection, where six projectors with 30,000 ANSI lumens (brightness when light from the projector is projected onto a wall 1 meter away) are overlapped in pairs and projected using dolmens and nature as screens.

Through large-scale media art videos on a 5,200㎡ scale, visitors can enjoy unique content exclusive to the Gochang dolmens that cannot be seen anywhere else.

At the opening ceremony on the 15th, a spectacular drone show, performances by about 70 popera performers and choirs, and media art performances will be held, raising expectations for an even richer opening event.

County Governor Shim Deok-seop said, “Based on the experience of holding the event once last year, the Gochang Dolmen Heritage Media Art has been enhanced with various latest technology contents,” and added, “On these deepening autumn nights, we hope you create special experiences and memories at the World Heritage Gochang Dolmen Heritage.”
