Yeosu City Prepares to Attract Group Tourists from China
Operation of Promotion Booth at China International Fair for Trade in Services
MOU Signed with Zhongcheng Guoying Travel Agency, 50,000 Annual Visitors
Following China's full approval of group tours to South Korea after 6 years and 6 months since the THAAD deployment, Yeosu City has swiftly prepared to attract Chinese group tourists.
Yeosu City (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) operated a tourism promotion booth and held a tourism briefing session targeting Chinese travel agencies at the China International Fair for Trade in Services held at the Beijing Convention Center on the 5th.
Yeosu City has taken swift measures to attract group tourists from China.

On that day, the city introduced the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo, international events (MICE) facilities, and cruise tourism to about 300 representatives from Eurasian countries and Chinese tourism companies, and conducted consultations to attract tourists.
In particular, during the exhibition, Yeosu achieved the outcome of signing a mutually beneficial MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with China Youth Travel Service, one of the world's top 10 travel agencies and a Chinese state-owned travel agency.
The agreement includes China Youth Travel Service promising to bring 30,000 to 50,000 Chinese inbound tourists to Yeosu annually, and in response, Yeosu City will promote incentives and discount promotions for group tourists.
Starting with this local promotional activity in China, Yeosu City plans to continue proactive efforts to attract Chinese group tourists, including adding Chinese language services to the smart tourism platform app ‘Yeosuen’.

Jung Jae-ho, Director of the Fisheries Tourism Bureau, said, “The signing of this MOU will be a great driving force for restoring Yeosu’s era of 13 million tourists by attracting Chinese group tourists, who constitute a major segment of overseas tourists. We will accelerate efforts to attract overseas tourists in line with the recovery of international tourism and strengthen our position as South Korea’s top tourist destination.”
