Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will hold a 'Healing Sharing Concert' for 2,000 workers who contributed to the development of the local community in celebration of the 24th Social Welfare Day.
The district promotes the annual Social Welfare Day event on September 7 to enhance understanding of social welfare and encourage the activities of welfare workers. This year’s 24th Social Welfare Day aims to overcome the regret of not being able to be with many people who have practiced resident care throughout the community due to COVID-19.
The 24th Social Welfare Day commemorative ceremony, titled "Melody for You, Healing Sharing Concert," hosted by the district and the local community security council and organized by the Nowon Cultural Foundation, will be held on the 7th at 3 p.m. at the Kwangwoon University Donghae Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater.
In particular, more than 1,000 members of the Dong (neighborhood) human safety network?including about 800 workers from social welfare facilities and institutions in the area, as well as groups active at the Dong level such as ▲Nowon Ddok Ddok Ddok Care Team ▲Dong Resident Welfare Council ▲Volunteer Camp ▲Neighbor Love Volunteer Group ▲Tongjang (community leaders)?will gather together for the first time.
In the first part, Mayor of Nowon-gu will award commendations to a total of 84 recipients: 78 individuals and 6 groups and institutions who contributed to the activation of community social welfare.
In the second part, the Western Symphony Orchestra (conductor Bang Seong-ho) will open the concert with Bizet’s “Blue Stone” from L’Arl?sienne. Performers include ▲folk singer Kim Hee-jin ▲vocalist Kim Dong-gyu ▲musical actor Kim So-hyun ▲singer Park Sang-min. Especially, Kim Dong-gyu and Kim So-hyun will perform a duet of “All I Ask Of You,” the OST from The Phantom of the Opera. The concert will conclude grandly with the Western Symphony Orchestra playing OSTs from Mission: Impossible and Pirates of the Caribbean.
The district continues to promote work environment improvement projects that balance work and rest to improve the treatment of social welfare facility workers. For about 2,000 workers at 162 social welfare facilities in the area, regardless of regular or irregular employment status, welfare points worth 240,000 KRW per person are provided. Additionally, for employees experiencing severe work stress due to verbal abuse and other issues in the field, psychological counseling costs of up to 600,000 KRW per person are supported.
