Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station Operates 'Eodeungsan Volunteer Patrol Team'
The Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station will operate the 'Eodeungsan Volunteer Patrol Team' from the 9th to December 31st to ensure the safety of hikers.
The patrol team will conduct random checks on suspicious individuals in pairs, forming two teams, on weekends and public holidays based on applications from police station staff, carrying out preemptive crime prevention activities.
Before full-scale operation, an on-site inspection team composed of the police chief and relevant department and section chiefs was formed to inspect vulnerable areas along an 8km section including the back gate of Gwangju Women's University, Sanjeong Mineral Spring, Seokbong, Deungyongjeong, and Bomun High School.
For three vulnerable spots found, including Deungyongjeong, a prompt request was made to the district office for CCTV installation.

A police official emphasized, "We believe that operating the patrol team in conjunction with special security activities will contribute to improving hikers' perceived safety and have a psychological and latent crime deterrent effect."
