Daejeon City Detects 5 Pharmacies Violating Pharmaceutical Affairs Act Including 'Expired Usage Period'
The Daejeon City Civil Affairs Judicial Police announced on the 5th that they have uncovered five pharmacies violating the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act through a planned investigation targeting pharmacies and pharmaceutical wholesalers in the area.

View original imageThe businesses caught were found to have sold or stored/displayed pharmaceuticals past their expiration (valid) dates (4 cases), or stored pharmaceuticals in locations other than authorized warehouses (1 case), leading to their crackdown.
The expired prescription drugs stored at the identified pharmacies ranged from as few as 3 types to as many as 10 types per pharmacy.
According to the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act, selling or storing/displaying pharmaceuticals past their expiration (valid) dates for sale is punishable by imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million KRW.
Additionally, storing pharmaceuticals in locations other than authorized warehouses is subject to a fine of up to 2 million KRW.

Daejeon City plans to file criminal charges against the involved business personnel, refer the cases to the prosecution, and request administrative sanctions from the relevant autonomous district.
