Chinese National Arrested for Using 'Currency Exchange Pretext' to Flee with Money Bag
Unable to find '10 million won in the bag'
A man in his 40s of Chinese nationality, Hwang Mo, was arrested by the police on suspicion of stealing a bag containing money under the pretext of currency exchange. The 10 million won that the victim claimed was inside the bag was not found.
According to the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul on the 4th, the police apprehended Hwang at around 5:15 PM while he was walking on the sidewalk in front of Dorimcheon in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.
Hwang is suspected of snatching the bag of a woman in her 30s, currency exchanger B, in a residential area of Daerim-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, at around 6 PM the previous day. The police tracked his movements through CCTV and other means before arresting him.
Hwang is known to be an illegal immigrant and does not speak Korean.
