Ukrainian Defense Minister Submits Resignation Letter... Denies Corruption Allegations
Oleksii Reznikov, who was abruptly replaced as Minister of Defense, formally submitted his resignation to the parliament on the 4th (local time). Minister Reznikov denied responsibility for the Ministry of Defense corruption allegations, which were cited as one of the reasons for his replacement.
Minister Reznikov announced via X (formerly Twitter) that he submitted his resignation to Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, on that day. The appointment of Ukraine's Minister of Defense requires the president's nomination and parliamentary approval.
In the resignation letter he made public, he stated regarding his tenure, "More than 50% of the territory temporarily occupied by Russia has been liberated," and "Ukraine is recognized as the shield of Eastern Europe."
He also reiterated that during his tenure, he reformed defense procurement and purchasing procedures and completed all the tasks assigned to him at the time of his appointment 22 months ago.
