Lotte Mart announced on the 4th that it will hold 'Art in Lotte Mart - Art Supermarket' at the Songpa branch until the 9th. This is the first exhibition held at Lotte Mart, organized to provide exhibition viewing and opportunities for citizens and artists who lack such chances, according to Lotte Mart. The exhibition will take place at the special exhibition hall on the 2nd floor of the Songpa branch. Approximately 100 artists have completed over 300 works, which will be displayed and operated.
Last year, the domestic art market size surpassed 1 trillion won for the first time in history. With the endemic (periodic spread of infectious diseases) easing, exhibition attendance has become more active, and art fairs and similar art exhibitions are gaining popularity. However, in the case of famous art fairs, the number of participating artists is limited, making it difficult to satisfy the exhibition needs of numerous artists. From the visitors' perspective, it is not easy to comfortably view artworks due to the nature of exhibitions mainly held at large convention centers or hotels.
Lotte Mart said that in this exhibition, they introduced a direct transaction method with artists so that visitors can easily view and purchase artworks. If visitors wish to purchase a work, they can inquire through the docent (exhibition guide) stationed within the exhibition and then directly transact with the artist. They operate a 'custom order reservation system' so that even if a work has already been sold, customers can request a custom-made piece from the artist and receive a newly created artwork. The prices of the exhibited works range from 500,000 to 3,000,000 won.

Meanwhile, starting with this exhibition, Lotte Mart plans to continuously hold exhibitions that transform the mart from a simple shopping space into a place where cultural and artistic content can also be enjoyed. To promote Lotte’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) brand RE:EARTH, the 'Young Artists Exhibition' planned by Lotte Mart ZRT (gen Z Round Table), composed of Generation Z university students, will be held from the 11th to the 30th at the Urban Forest Main Hall on the 1st floor of the Lotte Mart Yangpyeong branch.
