On that day, Assemblyman Yeom attracted attention by wearing a headband inscribed with the phrase "Is Jeonbuk a fool?" as a protest against the government's shirking of responsibility for the Saemangeum Jamboree incident and the budget cuts for Saemangeum SOC, and he completed the race wearing it.
Yeom stated, "The biggest victims of the Saemangeum Jamboree fiasco are the people of Jeonbuk, but the government and the ruling party have instead forced the responsibility and the Saemangeum SOC budget cuts onto us," adding, "This is an act that tramples on the pride of 1.8 million residents and tries to make Jeonbuk a scapegoat. I ran wearing the headband as an expression of anger and protest."
