"Claimed to Exchange Money" Warrant Requested for Chinese National Who Fled with Over 100 Million Won
The police have requested an arrest warrant for a man in his 30s from China who approached under the pretense of exchanging currency and fled after stealing over 100 million won.
Seoul Guro Police Station announced on the 2nd that they applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A, a Chinese man in his 30s suspected of theft under the guise of currency exchange, around 8 a.m.
Mr. A is accused of meeting Mr. B, a Chinese man in his 40s who owns a currency exchange booth, in front of Exit 2 of Namguro Station at approximately 5:45 p.m. on the 31st of last month, and stealing 125.3 million won in cash before fleeing.
Mr. A was urgently arrested around 9:45 p.m., four hours after the escape, in the Jayang-dong area of Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. It is understood that Mr. A met with Mr. B to conduct a currency exchange transaction and fled carrying cash in a shopping bag.

At the time of arrest, Mr. A claimed that the 60 million won recovered was all of the stolen money, and the police plan to conduct further investigations to determine the exact amount of the damage.
