Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station announced on the 31st that it received a thank-you text message from a 119 caller on the 28th.
According to the fire department, at around 11:30 PM on the 27th, the 3rd team of the Bukbu Fire Station 119 Rescue Squad responded to a welfare check report from a granddaughter who could not contact her elderly grandmother living alone, and headed to Junghung-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
Upon arrival, the 119 rescue team, guided by the waiting granddaughter, opened the door on the first floor of the building, entered inside, confirmed the safety of the 91-year-old grandmother with no unusual findings, and handed her over to the guardian, the granddaughter.
The next day, the 119 rescue team received a warm message from the caller saying, "I reluctantly requested help due to growing worries over time, but thank you for responding quickly and assisting us," and "We sincerely appreciate it."
119 rescue team member Lee Kyung-soon, who was dispatched to the scene, said, "I was worried because of the grandmother’s advanced age, but I was relieved that she was safe without any issues," and added, "I felt even more grateful reading the granddaughter’s message expressing her concern and relief for her grandmother."
